I had one of the worst experiences today while at the barber. This local place is a poser “old school” place that drew me in with decent shaves and good cuts. I’ve been going there for a couple of years. Lately they’ve been cutting kids - I mean like 2 years old - hair. My shop offers soft drinks to all patrons and some of the parents in turn, give their 2 year old a full can of Coca-Cola and let them run wild. Grabbing on shit, jumping off the furniture, screaming to hell and back and being in general, sugared up little terrors. Dad is getting his hair cut and mom is on the phone chatting it up with her friends…all the while junior is shitting his pants and rubbing is sucker laden fingers on every surface in the joint.
I go to the barber to relax, get a great cut and shoot the breeze. I left today with a headache and a pit in my stomach knowing I wouldn’t go back to this shop.
A mens barbershop is a place of respite and relaxation. A place to get away from work, kids and wives chatting relentlessly.
If you can bring your kid to muss up the place, I’m going to bring my dog to your country club and let him take a shit on tee box #1.
